Questions people ask
Is my payslip information sent anywhere?
No. The checker runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is uploaded or stored.
Why does my payslip differ by a few dollars?
Payroll software annualises pay and rounds each line. Small differences, a dollar or two, are normal. We flag gaps bigger than about 2% or $1.50.
What is the ACC earners' levy?
A levy on your earnings that helps pay for accident cover. For the 2026-27 year it is 1.75 cents per dollar (GST inclusive) on earnings up to $156,641, so the most anyone pays is $2,741.22.
What if I think I am being underpaid?
Ask your employer to explain the line in writing. If it is not fixed, Employment New Zealand (0800 20 90 20) can help, and a free Community Law centre can too.
Why does a second job get taxed more?
Your main job uses the tax brackets. A second job uses a flat rate (SB, S, SH, ST or SA) chosen by your total income, which can be higher than your main job's rate.
